Our Story
In 1926, Franklin Elementary opened its doors with just six classrooms, an office, two restrooms, and a book room — built for $55,200 on land generously donated by local families on Speedway Street.
Early enrollment ranged between 130 and 224 students. Over the years, Franklin grew to serve as many as 796 students at its peak. In 1951, Franklin became the first elementary school in Wichita Falls to have its own library — setting a precedent for educational excellence.
From its very first PTA president, Mrs. Harold Murph, to the countless parents, teachers, and staff who have followed, Franklin’s story has always been one of community support and shared investment.
For 100 years, Franklin has been more than a school — it has been a cornerstone of our neighborhood.

Celebrate by Giving
As part of Franklin Elementary’s 100-Year Celebration, we’re raising funds to build a new playground that will serve our students for generations to come.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community — and the countless hours and fundraisers led by our dedicated PTA team — we’ve already raised over $50,000 toward this project!
Now we need to raise $25,000 more by May 31 to fully fund the playground and bring this vision to life.
If you’re able, please consider making a gift today. Every donation makes a difference.
